The Chick Seller (ひよこ売り Hiyoko Uri) is a street vendor with a straw hat and sunglasses that appears in the games, in the Medarot manga series, and in the Medabots anime.

In the games[]

In the first Medarot game the chick seller is a mysterious man selling chicks near Hikaru Agata's house. In the end he appears to arrest the Roborobo Gang leader. In the Perfect Edition version from WonderSwan he reveals that he is a disguised special agent.

If the player does not meet the conditions to stay with Kirara or Nae in the end, he will gift a chick to Hikaru, indicating a bad romantic ending.

The chick seller also appeared in Medarot DS selling a Tinpet for 99990 yen.

In the manga[]

In the first Medarot manga the Chick Seller has some small appearances, secretly investigating the Roborobo Gang. Near the end he is seen in an international crime prevention conference revealing what he discovered, and in the end he arrested the main Roborobo Gang members. Hikaru and his friends did not see him again after this. He also has small appearances in the Medarot 2 and 3 manga.

In the anime.

In the anime the chick seller is either very wise or just very unlucky. Whenever a character is running away or troubled, the seller is almost always on his or her path. The salesman gives the character in question some words of advice, which in truth is an attempt to sell his chicks. But mostly his potential customer sees that running away isn't an option, so returns to face their fear, leaving the seller without buying anything. Sometimes he doesn't even attempt to sell chicks and just wants to give someone advice. This is shown in his last appearance on episode 52 of the anime. He berated Mr. Referee for attempting to run away and rekindled his spirit so he could referee the biggest Robattle ever.
