Dark Alliance (1) is the eighth episode of Medabots Spirit.

Content[]

Summary[]

Kam gives Unitrix, the strongest Kilobot so far, to Ginkai. Ginkai, who was previously defeated by the Mystery Medafighter, demands Ikki and Metabee to Robattle against him in order to test Unitrix's power. However, Metabee is on the verge of running out of battery!!

Plot[]

Ginkai was having fun in the bowling alley and is now late to return home, and is running back so his mom will not get mad at him. On the way, the Mystery Medafighter appears alongside Roks and challenges Ginkai, finishing his Kilobot, Cutter.

In another day, it's time for Metabee's annual battery recharge, but as Ikki and his family, alongside Erika and Zuru, are going to the beach on the same day, Metabee refuses to stay home alone recharging, and convinces everybody to bring him along, despite the risk of running out of energy. Hearing about this, the Screws inform it to Kam, who tells Ginkai to challenge Ikki in the beach with the new Kilobot he gave him, Unitrix, who he had just finished testing in the abandoned bowling alley.

In the beach, the Screws lure Ikki and Metabee to Ginkai, who corners Metabee with Unitrix and makes him use up his remaining energy, shutting down. When Ginkai was leaving, the Mystery Medafighter appears to challenge Ginkai, but Roks is defeated by Unitrx, who is stronger than previous Kilobots and is also able to Medachange. Kam them appears and invites the Mystery Medafighter to display another new Kilobot, Exor, demonstrating its abilities, and Kam says that he can have Exor under two conditions, and one is that he must abandon Roks, which he accepts.

After Metabee is fixed by Nae, Ikki and Metabee search Ginkai for a fair rematch, but the Mystery Medafighter appears before them with Exor, as the other condition is for him to defeat Ikki.

Trivia[]

  • The left arm parts Samantha received from Kam for her information is from Frontline.
  • Medabots needing an annual battery recharge is exclusive to Medabots Spirit, not being mentioned in other media, as in the games the engine from Medabots allows them to operate semi-permanently.

Medabots Spirit To Be Continued

To be continued.

  • This episode has some brief scene reductions, examples including the removal of some of repeated attack scenes from Cutter, the part with Kam saying "He looks like me" after he said "I like this Mystery Medafighter", one of the screen transition inside Ikki's house, and a repeated view of the seagulls on the beach, and Roks defeated after the match against Unitrix.
    • To compensate the removal of Kam's line in the car, in the dub Kam says something similar in the beginning of his meeting with the Mystery Medafighter on his home.
  • In the dub, Unitrix gained robotic lines, saying "acknowledged" and "target acquired" during the training against the three Roks and "surrender" against the Mystery Medafighter's Roks. Unitrix is completely silent in the original.
  • Ginkai also gained extra lines. For example, while testing Unitrix, he says "no mercy" and "strike".
  • The screen showing "change" on Ginkai's Medawatch during Unitrix's test was cut.
  • An eyecatch was added before showing the beach.
  • The two scenes shown after Ikki and Metabee leave to buy drinks for everyone were cut. As Jouzou was feeling pain in one spot, he believes he may have been stung by a jellyfish, and the kids are confused as that is unlikely to have happened on land. To compensate the removal, in the dub, Jouzou's screams when he awakens with Chidori's pinch were replaced by "Uwah! A jellyfish!".
  • When Ikki asks his mother money to buy a drink, she gives enough for him, Erika, and Zuru. In the original, Ikki asked for juice, and after Chidori gave the money, Erika and Zuru ask Ikki to buy peach and barley tea for them, respectively. When they are leaving, Erika tells Ikki that she does not want the carbonated one. In the dub, Ikki wants lemonade instead, and after Chidori gave the money, Erika and Zuru thank Chidori. When they are leaving, Erika tells Ikki to hurry as they are thirsty.
  • The fadeout during the Robattle between Metabee and Unitrix was removed, with the scene before it being reduced and the following scene cut.
  • An eyecatch was added after Metabee's battery ended, and scenes are repeated before and after the eyecatch.
  • In Nae's workplace, Brass blushing and her lines were cut, and the last scene with Erika was also cut, with Erika being upset with Ikki's behavior near Miss Nae.
  • An eyecatch was added during Exor's demonstration, and the scene after it was reduced.
  • Part of the scene in the school was cut. Erika notes to Ikki that he is talking too loud, and everyone was listening him. As Ikki was too focused on his strategy, only after Erika calls his attention that he notices everyone looking to him, including the teacher, and Ikki is embarrassed. Of note, the text on the teacher's book is 算数 (arithmetic).
  • The color of the gun from Frontline's left arm was changed from black to green, and its shooting sound effect was replaced by a sound effect that appears to be soap bubbles.
  • In the original, Spyke told Ikki that Ginkai can be found in the abandoned bowling alley. In the dub, there are no voices in this part, with Ikki and Erika silently staring the Screws in trouble, being unknown how Ikki discovered where Ginkai is.
  • The "black" (presumably black coffee, but part of the text is obscured) on Ginkai's drink was replaced by "soda".
  • In the end, in the original Kam is happy that the Mystery Medafighter is going to help show how great the Kilobots are. In the dub, Kam wants Metabee's Rare Medal destroyed, saying that it will be his greatest achievement.
  • The "to be continued" text in the end was replaced.
