Content[]
Summary[]
The Mystery Medafighter abandoned Roks and became the master of the Kilobot Exor, ignoring the spirit of Robattle and attacking both Metabee and Ginkai. Has the Mystery Medafighter, who said that it was his job to destroy Kilobots, really become a Rogue Medafighter?
Plot[]
Continuing from the previous episode, the Mystery Medafighter challenges Ikki and Metabee for a Robattle, but instead of Roks, he has Exor, a Kilobot. Ginkai joins him with Unitrix, and both easily defeat Ikki in an unfair 2 vs. 1 match. Content with the battle, Kam says that the Mystery Medafighter can keep Exor, and Ikki takes Metabee to Miss Nae for repairs.
The Mystery Medafighter started using Exor to hunt Kilobots, being shown defeating three Rogue Medafighters, with Masa calling him an hypocrite as he was also using a Kilobot. After hearing about what happened, Ginkai asks Kam if he was not worried with what the Mystery Medafighter was doing with their friends, but Kam says that if they were defeated, they were not worthy of having Kilobots.
Erika published an article about the Mystery Medafighter on her newspaper, and the Mystery Medafighter wonders if she is right. After defeating another Rogue Medafighter, he tells himself that the ends justify the means, and asks Exor's opinion, but as the Kilobot only says that he does not understand the command, the Mystery Medafighter wonders what Roks would say.
Erika has Ikki help her find the "Mystery Rogue Medafighter". During their search, they find the abandoned Roks, and as he had nowhere to go, Ikki invites Roks to stay on his home. While with them, Roks starts to understand what is friendship, seeing them getting along well and laughing together despite occasional fights, and notes that he never did any of those things with his master.
The Mystery Medafighter challenges Ginkai for a Robattle near an empty building. Erika finds them and she calls Ikki, and Roks asks to go with them. There, Ikki challenges the Mystery Medafighter with Roks, and Roks starts fighting Exor, saying that they are friends having a fight, and he will fight until they are friends again or is destroyed. The Mystery Medafighter does not know what to do, but Ginkai, unpleased with the interruption, attacks Roks. The Mystery Medafighter then realizes his mistake and throws away Exor's Kilowatch, and asks Ikki to return Roks's Medawatch. Kam appears and says that he was disappointed with the Mystery Medafighter's decision, taking Exor's Medawatch and challenging the Mystery Medafighter alongside Ginkai. Ikki calls Metabee to help the Mystery Medafighter, making it a fair 2 vs. 2 Robattle.
As the two Kilobots are too strong, Metabee and Roks run inside the building, and the Kilobots follows them. Inside, Roks is damaged by Exor, and Metabee is cornered by Unitrix. Fortunately for Metabee, there was a high voltage cable with exposed wires near Unitrix, which Ikki tries to warn Ginkai, but Ginkai ignores his warning and order Unitrix to continue, resulting in a shocking defeat for Unitrix. Back to Roks, the damage he took was causing his battery to leak, but his master has faith on him. Roks stopped functioning, but when Exor is about to finish him, Roks awakens and defeats Exor.
Kam does not understand how Roks was able to move with an empty battery, and the Mystery Medafighter explains that Medabots are more than machines, they are friends with a spirit. Kam still does not understand and decides to leave, calling Ginkai. Ginkai asks about their Kilobots, and Kam says that he will order Eddie to retrieve them later. Metabee appears carrying Roks on his arms, who manages to talk a bit with his master, and friend, before shutting down.
Trivia[]
- In the previous episode, Ginkai was without his jacket in all scenes he appeared, including the ending inside the bowling alley, from where this episode starts, with Ginkai suddenly having his jacket back.
- Despite appearing as a normal Medabot in the original anime, Turnmonkey is implied to be a Kilobot due to being one of the Mystery Medafighter's targets and having a gray Medal instead of a golden Medal. However, it is possible that this was an animation mistake, as its Medafighter, one of the Brat Brothers, is later given the similarly named Hanumonkey, and in this episode, Turnmonkey was named Hanumonkey in the English dub.
- This episode, alongside Title Flight, are the only episodes from Medabots Spirit where Ikki used his Medawatch to transport Metabee's full body. In this episode, Ikki and Metabee were together before the part Ikki used the Medawatch, but after Erika called them to follow her (with Roks going with them), Metabee mysteriously disappeared from the group until Ikki transported him. This implies that Ikki took Metabee's Medal on the way and placed it on his Medawatch. In the original anime, Metabee is very independent and dislikes when his Medal is without a body, and there was no reason to make a pause to remove the Medal, specially when Erika asked them to hurry.

English dub changes[]

The Mystery Medafighter's Medawatch.

Amazake Newspaper.

The battery damage warning.

Roks damaged.
- The Mystery Medafighter's Medawatch screen was modified in the recap, despite being uneditted in the previous episode. Changes include gaining a new design and the names of his head, right arm, left arm, and leg parts being respectively replaced by Head Part, Left Arm, Right Arm, and Body Armor.
- Some scenes had short reductions or were cut, examples include:
- Some parts of the battle between Metabee and the two Kilobots inside the bowling alley.
- The first scene showing Ikki's school.
- Erika searching the "Mystery Rogue Medafighter" before finding Roks.
- The fighting game played by Ikki and Metabee.
- Kam's robotic camera moving.
- Some parts of the Mystery Medafighter's battles against Ginkai and Kam.
- The scene showing a liquid dropping from Roks's wound, resembling blood.
- The adjustable spanner Nae asked Erika to give her was translated as monkey wrench in the dub. The term is used in the broader sense, as the wrench shown is not a monkey wrench nor a pipe wrench.
- Turnmonkey is called Hanumonkey in the dub.
- An eyecatch was added after the Mystery Medafighter defeated Masa.
- The headline from Erika's newspaper, 謎のメダロッターついにコクリュウ手を組んだ!! ("The Mysterious Medarotter and Kokuryuu teamed up!!"), was translated as "Ikki and Metabee No Match for Mystery Medafighter". The newspaper's name, Amazake Newspaper (Riverview Review in the dub), was left unstranslated in all scenes.
- In the dub, Ikki complains that Erika showed him and Metabee losing. In the original, Ikki's main complain is that the bigger photo was the one showing Metabee defeated.
- The dialogue between Ginkai and Kam after Masa's defeat is different, the dub implying that Skelbot's Ex Medal was destroyed when the Mystery Medafighter's Exor stepped on it, and Kam is more grim:
- English dub:
- "Come on Kam. Why'd you give him Exor? He just destroyed Masa's Skelbot core. I thought Masa was a friend of ours."
- "Friends? I don't need friends. I need winners. Losers aren't worthy of my time, or my Kilobots. A defeated Kilobot deserves to be destroyed."
- Rough translation of the original:
- "Hey, Momokawa got beaten too. Was it really a good idea to give Excise to that jerk? Our friends are getting beaten one after the other."
- "My friends are the ones who always win. If a Death Medarotter is weak, then they are not qualified for Death Medarots. I'll be rooting for you."
- English dub:
- The fadeout before the battle between the Mystery Medafighter and Ginkai was replaced by an eyecatch.
- An eyecatch was added during the fight between the Mystery Medafighter and Roks.
- The "battery damage" text on Roks's HUD was modified, improving its visibility.
- In the original, Ikki tries to warn Ginkai about the exposed energy cable near Unitrix, but as Ginkai did not hear what Metabee said about it, he thinks that Ikki is begging to stop and says that it will not work with him. In the dub, Ikki mentioned the high voltage cable before warning Ginkai, and Ginkai heard it, but Ginkai is not concerned, asking "what a little wire can do" before ordering Unitrix to advance.
