Just before the Citywide Robattle Tournament, Ikki and Metabee argue and part ways.[1]
Plot[]
It's the World Robattle Championships finals taking place in Geneva, Switzerland. Rolando of Spain with his cow-type Medabot Redmatador is battling Victor of Kenya with his king-lion-type Medabot, Warbandit. It looks as if nothing could penetrate Redmatador's cape shield, but Warbandit does by simply adjusting his scope by a few degrees.
Ikki is watching the Robattle in his living room when Metabee suddenly lands on him while riding Salty like a cowboy and his trusty stallion. Ikki and Metabee begin to fight to decide the TV's channel, causing a vase to fall, ruining their big screen TV. This results in Ikki missing the most of the event on TV and losing his allowance (which means no new Medaparts for Metabee).
The next day, Ikki runs into Erika on the way to school; she has recorded the World Robattle Championships for Ikki so he could prepare for the Citywide Robattle Tournament taking place on Sunday. After school, Ikki talks about the citywide tournament with Henry, who suggests Metabee should get a good cleaning and polishing. Unfortunately, that's hard to do as Metabee won't allow Ikki to remove his Medal. Henry had the idea to put Metabee's Medal in a spare body while he is being polished, and so Henry loans Ikki his spare Tinpet (actually the store's display). Later in the late afternoon/early evening; Ikki builds the new Medabot out of the Medaparts won from their Robattles, then leaves to find Metabee. Unfortunately, Metabee coming back home from walking the family dog; saw it and thinks he is being replaced. At the same time, Ikki returns and before Ikki can explain, Metabee became upset and angry and ran off as he says to Ikki that he will still Robattle on Sunday, but without Ikki's help.
At the Citywide Robattle Tournament, Ikki runs into Karin and Koji. Koji is very anxious to have Sumilidon take on Metabee. Samantha is also there with Peppercat. Too bad Peppercat was loaded with so many high performance Medaparts that they were too heavy to handle, causing her Robattle loss. The competition continues, and it comes down to Sumilidon and Metabee in the finals. Metabee won't listen to any advice Ikki tries to give, which results in quite a beating from Sumilidon's hammer fist. Major damage to Metabee occurs when he uses his seeker missile, but it's a trap as Sumilidon engages his disrupter. Another hammer fist finishes Metabee which causes him to cease function.

The spare body.
- The spare body Ikki made for Metabee had a Tinpet borrowed from Henry, Mistyghost's head (obtained in The Gimme Ghost), Megaphant's left arm (from Running Scared), Dr. Bokchoy's right arm (Stung by a Metabee), and Tentaclam's legs (The Old Man and the Sea Monster).
- Seaslug was called "Dryfish" in this episode. Of note, Seaslug was called "Fishface" in early English press releases.[2][3]
- This episode does not have a "Robattle Stats" / "Parts obtained" screen in the end.

- Metabee lost a Robattle for the second time, and this is the first time his Kabuto Medal left his body since his activation.

- The announcer from the World Robattle Championship has additional dialogue in the dub. In one of them he calls the referee by his name. The referee was not named in the original version.
- Redmatador and Warbandit lacked a presentation in the original.
- The sound effect from the shine in Redmatador's saber and Warbandit's gun were removed in the dub.
- The two cartoony fights between Ikki and Metabee were cut.
- The duration Ikki's house is onscreen when he leaves to school was reduced.
- In the Japanese version, Erika and Henry make a pun with the word "ageru" (meanings including give and lift) that could not be translated. They asked Ikki if they should "give" him something (the tournament recording from Erika and a Tinpet from Henry), and when he agrees, they "lift" the object up like he requested. Erika does not make much of a joke in the dub, saying "hold it" when lifting it (with Ikki's reaction being cut), but Henry asked what he should do ("My heart says yes, but my allowance says no...").
- In the English dub, a fadeout was added before showing the Citywide Robattle Tournament poster, and the camera does not move to show the full poster in the dub, possibly to avoid moving the translated text. Also, Metabee blinks two more times in the previous scene, possibly added to compensate the changes.
- The beginning of Ikki's laugh after he assembled the spare body for Metabee was cut.
- Ikki's reaction after Metabee leaves the room was reduced.
- A fadeout was added were the commercial break was in the original.
- The zoom out scene after Gloomeg's defeat was removed.
- It appears that a small amount of frames were cut from different scenes during the tournament, being most notable in Dr. Bokchoy's Robattle and two of Karin's appearances.
- Koji's cry was reduced.
- The scene with the tournament brackets showing images of Metabee, Ikki, Sumilidon and Koji was cut.
- A fade out was added before the tournament's final match.
- Mr. Referee's mention to the city's name, Ginjou Town, was omitted.
- The text in the Rubberobo Gang's stand changed from やきそば (Yakisoba) to Rubber Noodles, and the zoom effect was removed, possibly due to the changed text.
- Like previous episodes, the texts in Ikki's Medawatch changed.
- A "to be continued" message was added in the end of the episode.
