Summary[]

Ikki found Spyke fallen over in the riverbed. Cyandog ran away from home, leaving a letter behind. Samantha says it is because he is disappointed with Spyke, who was last place in this week's Robattle Rankings, but Cyandog had a reason.

Plot[]

While Ikki and Metabee were playing with Salty in the riverbed, Salty found Spyke injured there. They take Spyke to the convenience store, and Spyke explains that he was looking for Cyandog, who had ran away from home for unknown reasons despite him taking good care of him, even leaving a farewell letter and taking his Medawatch. After talking with Erika, Erika spreads wanted posters around town to help find Cyandog, and Spyke thanks them for the help, hoping to find Cyandog before Samantha finds out, as she might get angry and kick him out of the Screws. Ikki and Erika did not knew he was keeping it a secret, and told him he should have said that sooner, but it was too late. Samantha is angry, but says that she is not surprised. Samantha shows Spyke this week's Robattle Rankings, and Spyke is shocked to discover that he is in last place, making him the worst Medafighter in the country. Samantha them tells Spyke that he is out of the Screws until he can win a Robattle.

The days pass, and Spyke is very sad with the absence of his friend. Fortunately, Erika received news of Cyandog's possible location, but when they check, the Rockers, who now renamed themselves as the Metalheads, inform that he is their newest member, C-Dawg, and Cyandog pretends he does not recognize Spyke, but Spyke knows that it is him. Sad, Spyke runs away crying. Metabee talks with Cyandog and convinces him to return to Spyke by making him play a hero as a way to amend for what happened, with Ikki, Erika, and Brass playing as villains. However, when everything is set, they find that Spyke purchased a new Medabot, Krosserdog, calling Cyandog ungrateful and that this time he will get a Kabuto Medal and properly rise his new Medabot to be more powerful. Cyandog overheard him and leaves angry with Spyke, and Spyke laments what happened. Cyandog passes by the Chick Seller, who tells him to stop lamenting as he was the one who ran in the first place, and should now act like a lone wolf. Cyandog took those words to heart and became more aggressive, becoming the new leader of the Metalheads.

When the kids hear about what Cyandog is doing, Spyke pretends to not care, as it was Cyandog's choice and he now has a new Medabot, the "chick seller" appears and talks with him, and Spyke thanks Samantha, seeing through her disguise, and goes after Cyandog. Meanwhile, Metabee stopped Cyandog from taking the parts from a kid's Jorat and they Robattle, telling Cyandog to leave the Metalheads if he wins. Cyandog became stronger, but he is no match for Metabee and is severely damaged. Despite Cyandog's condition getting to a point he was supposedly to stop function, Cyandog's is still standing, unwilling to surrender. Spyke appears and tells them to stop, and he has a heartfelt talk with Cyandog, who calms down and stops functioning, ejecting his Monkey Medal. Ikki and Metabee ask the Metalheads to give Cyandog's Medawatch, but they refuse, saying that it now belongs to them and challenge Ikki for a Robattle. Angry, Metabee activates the Medaforce and defeats their Medabots with a single attack. Afterwards Metabee is suddenly attacked from behind by a mysterious Medabot. Spyke places Cyandog's Medal on Krosserdog and tells him to attack the Medabot, but he falls back, and is seen with other three Medabots.

Trivia[]

Background[]

English dub changes[]

Anime Cyandog wanted

"Have you seen my Cyandog?"

Anime Robattle Rankings top

Robattle Rankings top.

Anime Robattle Rankings bottom

Robattle Rankings last place.

  • The view of the text in Cyandog's letter was cut.
  • The camera movement in the wanted poster was removed, possibly due to to the translated "Have you seen my Cyandog?" text. The smaller texts ("boss" in the speech balloon, "yellow", "blue", and "Monkey Medal" in the arrows, and "unskilled") were left untranslated.
  • The part with Spyke imagining what would happen if Samantha discovered that Cyandog ran away, with Samantha figuratively and literally kicking him out of the Screws, was cut.
  • After Samantha appears, a small scene was cut, and its dialogue changed. In the original it had Ikki's thoughts on the situation, while in the dub Samantha continued talking with Spyke.
  • The dub showed only one of the three views of the magazine with the current Robatte Rankings. The first view showed the top three Medafighters, and had a partial view of others. The second showed numbers 133 to 138, and the visible names were replaced in the dub. The third focused on the last place, Spyke, and also showed numbers 298 and 299.
    • The sad tune after Spyke saw he was last place was removed. Other musics in the episode were also changed.
  • Samantha's mention to Japan was replaced by country when she tells Spyke that he is "the worst Medafighter in the entire country".
  • The full view of Spyke's house was cut.
  • Spyke injured after being hit by Hasuke Samejima and Doggie was cut.
    • Hasuke Samejima said Doggie's name twice in the original, but he did not say his name in the dub. The first time was replaced by him telling Spyke to go get his own Medabot, and the second was in the scene cut in the dub. Of note, Samejima's name was not mentioned in the episode, but is listed in the Japanese voice cast in the end of the episode.
    • The Medal transition after this part was replaced by a fadeout.
  • Like the first episode, the 666 in the blonde rocker's head was removed.
  • The part Ikki mentions he does not remember the Rockers and the three falling down in disbelief was cut. Despite this, the blonde rocker still says "it's time for a refresher" in the next scene.
  • The Rockers changing their name to the Metalheads is exclusive to the dub. They are still called the Rockers in the original.
  • Cyandog says his name is C-Dawg in the dub and Benji in the original.
  • The part between Spyke running away sad and appearing in the bridge was cut. In the original, after Spyke left crying (with Ikki, Erika, and Metabee following him), the Rockers attempted to stop them, but Metabee told them to shut up and used his missiles, stopping the Rockers.
  • Medarot was changed to Medabot in Krosserdog's package.
  • Spyke's mention of the Krosserdog he purchased being a limited edition that only had 200 units made was omitted.
  • A small scene before Cyandog howls was cut.
  • The Rockers surprised by the ground shaking before Mr. Referee's appearance was cut, and their line asking if it is an earthquake was moved to the next scene.
  • After Mr. Referee appears, he only makes dizzy sounds in the dub, while he says his usual lines ("This is now an official Robattle." and "I, Mr. Uruchi, will be the referee.") in a dizzy way in the original.
  • In the dub, Cyandog says that Metabee will have to join the Metalheads if he wins. In the original, Cyandog says that he will get all of Metabee's parts instead of only one if he wins.
  • Mr. Referee starting the match and the beginning of the scene with Spyke looking the river were cut. A fadeout was added in their place.
  • Most of the dialogue between the "chick seller" (Samantha disguised) and Spyke was changed:
    • In the dub, the "chick seller" asks if Spyke should not go to the Robattle, as his friend could use his support, and Spyke says that Cyandog would not want him around after he overheard him bragging about his new and more powerful Medabot, Krosserdog. The "chick seller" then asks if he will simply give up, and says that a Medabot is not something one can simply play with until you grow bored and simply buy a new one that will never replace the memories the two share. Spyke says that Cyandog changed too much, and the "chick seller" asks if he did not realize that Cyandog is only crying for attention, doing what he overheard, aiming to become a more unique and powerful Medabot. After Spyke realizes Cyandog is craving for attention, he thanks his boss and leaves.
    • In the original, the "chick seller" asks Spyke if he will only stay there while his friend is in trouble, and Spyke says that it was his fault that Cyandog left, and he would not forgive him. The "chick seller" then calls Spyke a coward and says that what others think is not important right now, but what he wants, and if words are not enough, he should hit his Medabot and force him to return. Spyke is not sure of it, and the "chick seller" notes that while hitting a Medabot will hurt his hand more than the Medabot, his pain will also affect the Medabot, which will make Cyandog understand the pain Spyke is feeling on his heart. Spyke then realizes that he needs to convey his pain to Cyandog, and thanks his boss before leaving.
  • In Cyandog's Medawatch, the name of the parts Linear Cannon, Snipe Rifle, Assult Rifle (sic), and Juzar were respectively changed to Head Part, Right Arm, Left Arm, and Linear Cannon. The two texts in the first appearance, "Linear Cannon damaged 80pt" and "Discharge impossible", were changed to "Head part - 80% damage" and "Linear Cannon offline", and the texts in the second appearance, "Linear Cannon destruction" and "Out of control" changed to "Body part = 100% damage" and "Function ceased".
  • After Cyandog is severely damaged, in the original Cyandog speaks with himself, saying that he is not a loser, but a wolf, and a lone wolf at that, while in the dub he talks with Metabee, asking him what's the rush as he is got one more left on him, and Metabee tell him to bring it on.
  • In the dub, Spyke tells Cyandog that the reason he purchased a new Medabot was to hide the emptiness he felt after Cyandog left. In the original, Spyke apologizes to Cyandog for not seeing things from his point of view and for purchasing a new Medabot. The music from this part also changed.
  • The part Spyke says that "your medal may not be a perfect fit for your body, but..." is shorter in the dub, as Spyke speaks normally instead of slowly like the original.
  • Metabee is more talkative during the Medaforce in the dub. The only thing he said in the original was that the Rockers are a shame for all Medafighters before activating it.
  • In the original, Metabee (and the narrator) said nothing in the end, the last line being Ikki asking who were the Medabots that appeared.
