Koji Karakuchi (辛口 コウジ Karakuchi Kōji) is Ikki's rival.
Description[]
Koji comes from a rich family living in Medaropolis. Usually wearing yellow and blue clothes, Koji goes to the school in Medaropolis. He is a talented Medafighter and always protects and follows Karin, having a sort of love interest on her.
In the games Koji is hot-headed and reckless, tending to rush before thinking. In the anime he is more composed, but also mollycoddled and pompous.

Medarot 2 and Medabots (GBA)[]
Koji first appeared alongside Karin investigating who was the responsible for tickling her (flipping her skirt in the Japanese version), which was later discovered to have been a member of the Rubberobo Gang. Ikki later has a Robattle with him in the tournament on Medabot Island. After solving the problems caused by Hachiro, Ikki convinces Koji to befriend him. Koji helped stop the Rubberobo Gang.
His partner Medabot is Sumilidon in the Kabuto/Metabee version and Warbandit in the Kuwagata/Rokusho version.
Medarot 3[]
Koji participates in the Medalympics. His main Medarot is the same as the previous game early on, but later he upgrades to Excise in the Kabuto Version and Unitris in the Kuwagata Version.

Koji appears in the game.
Medarot R[]
After reading an article from Arika about a Medarotter named Ikki that defeated The Screws, Koji went to Ikki's school to challenge him for a Robattle. His main Medarot is Smilodonad.

Koji is one of the opponents in the World Robattle Tournament.
Medabots Infinity[]
Koji appears in the game. His partner Medabot is Roks.
Medarot S: Unlimited Nova[]
Koji appeared with Smilodonad in the fourth story, in the retelling of Medarot 2, and in some event stories. He also appears as Medarotter type equipments, some being event exclusive versions with him dressed like Toraoh and Enzan.

Something of an ace Medafighter, Koji and his Medabot Sumilidon are legendary for never losing a Robattle. Koji and Ikki are rivals, but manage to co-exist together because of their shared love interest with Karin. Koji always trains hard with his Medabot trying to master the technique known as the Shadow Sword, a technique using the Flexor Sword part.
Young Koji
In the episode Dance with the Mantis it is shown that Koji has a fear of green bugs. When he was very young, he used to like bugs, but it changed when he found a cocoon. Taking it home, the cocoon soon hatched and he was swarmed by praying mantises. As a result, the Robattle with Mantaprey ended when Koji went berserk.
Koji is ranked 2nd in the Japanese national Robattle ranking, joining Team Japan in the World Robattle Cup.
Etymology[]
Kōji is a mold used in East Asia to saccharify rice, sweet potato, and barley in the making of alcoholic beverages such as sake.
Karakuchi is a Japanese word used to describes the taste of dry sake that has low sugar, which generally has more alcohol. Karakuchi is also used to describe the spiciness of food as well as a fully attenuated pale lager beer.
