Content[]

Summary[]

After a small argument, Ikki and Ginkai decide to compete in a new Robattle field created by Nae. However, Ikki ran out of his pocket money and realized that he couldn't replenish Metabee's ammunition. Nae lent Ikki and Metabee some old parts when they were out of ammo.

Plot[]

Ikki used all of his allowance to buy Shirayuki's album alongside a ticket to greet her on Saturday. Later, in Nae's shop, Metabee and Arc-Dash started arguing, and Ikki and Ginkai also started arguing. Nae suggests them to settle it in a Robattle, combining to meet on Sunday in a new arena she was preparing on an old warehouse she purchased to test parts. During their argument, Ikki called Samantha a second rate Medafighter, something that Spyke heard, and he went to tell her.

While Ikki and Metabee were planning their strategy, Ikki remembered that Metabee was low on ammo, and he cannot afford to buy more before the match due to the purchase he did. To make things worse, Samantha appeared and challenged Ikki to a Robattle for what he said about her, with Metabee needing to use all his remaining ammo to win against Peppercat.

Ikki and Metabee consult Nae to find a solution, and she suggests to try using other parts, showing old spare parts she has available on her shop. They try several of the parts, but none looked like could be helpful against Arc-Dash. Later, while watching TV at home, they saw a martial artist using a nunchaku and decided on a strategy. They take a set of arm parts from Nae and start training with them to use in the upcoming match.

At first Metabee is a bit clumsy with the arm parts, but after some training, he was ready for the Robattle. In the day of the match, Nae presents her arena, which was a bit worn but had several objects that could be used as obstacles. Metabee appears to have the advantage in the beginning, but Arc-Dash manages to break Metabee's weapons, with Metabee barely winning by using the environment on his favor. While chatting after the match, Ginkai mentioned that he handshaked Shirayuki yesterday. Ikki was so focused on the training that he forgot about the event, and started crying for missing his chance to greet Shirayuki.

Trivia[]

Medabots Spirit Medawatch episode 29

Medawatch screen.

  • The parts Metabee tried are the heads from Premium 2K, Aquamar, Nya-Buck and Neo Sakura-chan, the arms from Assault-Tyranno, Gun-King (which are choosen), Pii, Telesco-Crane, and Neo Sakura-chan, and the legs from Young Sparrow, Shine Seal, Grancia, Komandog, Frill-Free, and Fire Organ.
  • Although Metabee was equipped with Gun-King's arm parts and his silhouette in the Medawatch screen matched, the screen displayed the name from Metabee's arms instead of Gun-King's.
  • Like previous episodes, the times shown in this episode (Shirayuki's event being on Saturday 13, and the Robattle on Sunday 14) are close to the real life calendar at the time the anime first aired (January 19, 2001), being Sunday on January 14, 2001.
  • Shirayuki kept her original Japanese name in this episode, despite being renamed as Cinnamon in the dub when she first appeared in Lights, Camera... Robattle!.
  • In the Japanese version, some of the backgrounds from the scenes in the next episode preview are different. For example, the scene where Erika throws her trophy on Ikki is outdoors instead of indoors.

  • The scene showing the poster promoting Shirayuki's album was shortened, cutting the Japanese text in the bottom.
  • In the original, Ikki says that it is Shirayuki's debut single (it is unknown if Shirayuki had albums with Sugar Girl or others before, but this is her first solo), while in the dub, Ikki says "Shirayuki has a new album" (implying that Shirayuki released other albums, but being unknown if alone or with someone else).
  • All mentions of the event to greet Shirayuki being held on the Ginjou Department Store were omitted.
  • Ikki checking his wallet and deciding to buy Shirayuki's album was cut.
  • The text in Ikki's ticket was adapted as "This is your ticket to meet and greet with Shirayuki on Saturday **** **** at 2 pm!", with the month and day being blurred.
  • In the original, the package Ginkai went to retrieve in Nae's shop is ammo for Arc-Dash. In the dub, the package is said to have parts.
  • In Nae's shop, the sign with the text 料金無用コーナー ("no charge corner") was translated as "free stuff!!!".
  • Metabee and Arc-Dash continuing to argue was cut. In this part, they mention that they will use their parts (Ballister and Appendix) to defeat the other. In the dub, Nae says that they "ran out of insults" before the cut part.
  • A small part from Ikki and Metabee planning their strategy was cut, with them praising their own plan. Also, in the original the full plan is to use speed to close in while using Blaster and Fusier to close in and finish Arc-Dash with Ballister (Metabee's head, which fires missiles). In the dub, the mention to Metabee's Blaster in this part was omitted, only mentioning Fusier, and instead of Ballister, they say that they will finish with lasers.
  • The scene with Metabee complaining with Ikki for wasting his money was shortened a bit.
  • An eyecatch was added after Samantha challenged Ikki.
  • A stats screen was added for Peppercat.
  • One scene with Ikki during his Robattle against Samantha was cut.
  • Samantha's sad face after she lost was cut.
  • Additional dialogues were added while Metabee was trying different parts. Other scenes in the episode also have a few extra lines.
  • In Ikki's calendar, the text ぜったい勝っ! ("certain victory!") was translated as "victory!".
  • In Ikki's TV, the scene with the martial artist using his nunchaku to deflect bullets from a gun was cut.
  • An eyecatch was added after Nae showed the warehouse where Ikki and Ginkai would Robattle. The duration of the scene before it was extended a bit, and the scene after it was reversed, zooming in instead of zooming out.
  • In the dub, Nae mentioned that she also wants to add a snack bar and a gift shop in the warehouse.
  • Arc-Dash breaking part of the warehouse's wall was cut. Arc-Dash started knocking his horn on the rusty wall (apparently to test its resistance), and ended up making a small hole, and apologizes.
  • Metabee dodging Arc-Dash's shots by hiding behind a crate, and the crate being destroyed by the shots, was cut.
  • In the original, Ginkai mocks Metabee's obsolete parts. In the dub, Ginkai mocks Ikki's line ("Metabee, remember your training") by saying that it sounds like an old movie.
  • Arc-Dash's Appendix was renamed Disruptor Cannon. Of note, Scatter kept its name in this episode.
  • Some of the scenes near the end had their duration slightly reduced.
  • The mucus in Ikki's nose while he was crying was removed.
