Oceana, known in Japanese as Pure Mermaid (ピュアマーメイド), is an MAR-type Medabot that first appeared in the original Medarot game.

Description[]

Oceana is a Medabot based on a mermaid, with long blonde hair, pink fins, and a fishlike tail allowing her to move freely in the water. She specializes in repairing damage to her allies' parts, making her very useful as a support-type Medabot.

Oceana is usually depicted with a pair of small sea angels hovering above the palms of her hands, but these are missing in some of her game appearances.

In the games[]

Oceana is an aquatic-type Medabot that uses Repair (Recovery) actions to restore her allies' unbroken parts, while her head can "Restore" broken parts a few times. In Medarot 1, 2, R, and 2 Core, all her parts have the Heal attribute, making her an obvious choice for use with the Mermaid Medal.

Medarot[]

Oceana is a generic enemy Medabot in the original games, never much of a threat on her own. Her main ability is to heal herself and her allies, although she is at severe disadvantages when built as a whole.

Oceana's arms are the fastest "Repair" parts available in Medarot 1, and her head is the only part in the game capable of repairing multiple parts at once. Unfortunately, only her leg parts can be obtained through normal gameplay, as a reward for winning a battle with the gym teacher in the post-game. The rest of her parts can only be obtained by trading them from the Medarot Parts Collection games.

Medarot 2[]

Oceana's parts are not normally obtainable in Medarot 2, and must be transferred over from the previous game or the Medarot Parts Collection games. She was replaced by the new MAR-type, Maitin.

Medabots (GBA)[]

Oceana returns as a generic enemy Medabot, still not a threat and retaining the same abilities as before. She appears in the same context Maitin did in Medarot 2.

Medabots AX[]

Oceana's parts are used by many Medafighters, examples including Julie having an almost complete Oceana as her leader Medabot, but with Sailor-Multi's Pateri Vulcan instead of Cure Hand, and one of the Select Corps members having a complete Oceana as the partner Medabot. The player also starts with Oceana's head parts.

Medarot DS[]

Oceana's model changed to MAR00 in the new format, and her head part now uses All Repair, which heals all parts simultaneously.

Medarot 7[]

Her arms were both upgraded to Serious Repair.

Medarot 8[]

Her legs gained the effect Heal Plus.

Medarot 9[]

Her arms returned having the basic Repair.

Medarot S: Unlimited Nova[]

Her parts were included in the game on June 2023 as one of the rewards from the event "Hisaki Becomes a Magical Girl!" (魔法少女ヒサキ行きます!).

In the anime[]

As seen in the anime

In the episode No Body Home, Metabee found a stray Mermaid Medal on the ground and tries to find the Medabot that it belongs to. They try teleporting the body with Ikki's Medawatch, but it doesn't work. Instead, they decide to place said Medal in Brass's body until they can find it. They find out her name is Oceana and her body is being held captive.

Throughout the episode, Metabee falls head over heels for Oceana. She is sweet, shy, and an almost too-good-to-be-true damsel in distress but his heart is broken when she leaves after being reunited with her Medafighter, Hannah.

Later on, in Metabee's Last Stand, Oceana appears again to cheer on Metabee in the final battle against Babbyblu.

In the dub, Oceana is the name of both the Medabot model (type MAR-13118) and the character (the Mermaid Medal), and she and Hannah are like sisters. In the original Japanese, this Pure Mermaid model is named Hijiki (ヒジキ) and she acted like her Medafighter's mother since her mother's passing. The Japanese credits list that she has three voice actors: Chie Hirano, Keidai Nemoto and Arata Sato.
