Summary[]
Ikki's parents discovered the test with a score of 20 he hid in the trash can, and he is prohibited from participating in Robattles until he gets a score that he can proudly show. As Ikki can't get a good score, he involves Zuru on a plan to cheat.
Plot[]
Ikki, Metabee, and Erika see Ginkai and Arc-Dash practicing near the river. Ikki and Erika notice that Ginkai is usually alone, with most people probably still being scared of him despite he no longer being a Rogue Medafighter, and Metabee suggests to go have a Robattle with him. Ginkai accepts their challenge, but before they start, Chidori appears and says she needs to talk with Ikki, and Ikki postpones their match for another day. Back at their home, Chidori shows that she found a test with a score of 20 in the trash can, and both Chidori and Jouzou have a serious talk with Ikki, saying that he needs to apply himself more to studies, and he is prohibited from participating in Robattles until he can get a good score.
As the next test is tomorrow, Metabee suggests that they should study all night to get a good score and quickly solve the problem, but after 15 minutes they were both sleeping, and Ikki's score did not improve. When they see Ginkai again, they makes an excuse to not Robattle him, and Ginkai finds their behavior odd. Unwilling to have to hide from Ginkai, as that may make he think they are afraid of him, Ikki decides to cheat to get a good test to end the ban faster. Metabee tries to dissuade him, telling him to simply study, but Ikki is determined, going to Nae's shop to convince Zuru to help him. One the day of the test, Zuru discretly transports Gorem-2 during the test to silently float to Ikki and give him a paper with the answers. However, Samantha notices that something is wrong and almost exposed Gorem-2, with Zuru giving up due to the risk of getting caught.
Ikki stays after class to do another test, and he decides to have Metabee help him, contacting him with the Medawatch. At first Metabee disagrees, but when Ikki tells him that this will be the last test in a while and they may not Robattle again for a month, he changes him mind. Ikki damages his current test and asks for a replacement, throwing the damaged one out from the window. Metabee catches the test and decides to take it to Nae so she can show the answers. On his way to Nae's place, Metabee accidentally hit Masa's Skelbots, which angers him. Nae, unaware that Ikki was still on school and assuming that he wanted help studying his homework, started explaining the questions, and Ikki uses the Medawatch to see the answers from Metabee's eyes. However, Masa finds Metabee and challenges him, taunting him until he accepts. Ikki reminds Metabee that they are forbidden from Robattling, and right now Metabee was supposed to help him with the test.
Ginkai was nearby and noticed Masa attacking Metabee while his Medafighter was not present, and challenges Masa. Metabee blames Ikki's cheating plan for the situation, and Nae is upset with what she heard. During the Robattle, one of the Skelbots throws cans of ink on Arc-Dash, blinding him. Masa taunts that Ginkai can easily solve that by changing parts, but Ginkai says that he is no longer a Rogue Medafighter and will not cheat. Despite the odds, Ginkai and Arc-Dash manage to win without cheating, with GInkai acting as Arc-Dash's eyes and telling him where to aim. Nae reproves Ikki and Metabee for what they were doing, and shows that Ginkai tried to win honestly, without cheating. After seeing Ginkai's Robattle, Ikki feels ashamed and talks with Condie after the test is over, asking to do the test again because he had cheated. The teacher disapproves that Ikki cheated, but as Ikki was being honest and revealed what he did, he decides to give him another chance.
Ikki does the test again, and this time he got a score of 80. Ikki's parents are happy with the result, and they decide to lift the ban on Robattles. In the next day, Ikki and Metabee challenge Ginkai and Arc-Dash, starting an honest and fun Robattle by the rules.
Trivia[]

Parts in Nae's shop.
- While the word カンニング in the Japanese title literally means cunning in English, in Japanese it is a loanword that means cheating, mainly on a test.
- Besides the blade from Roks that Zuru checked, the parts visible in Nae's shop appear to be the hammer from Roks, the claws from Sumilidon, and the forearms from Aquamar, Cyandog, and Warbandit.
- When Jouzou first talks on this episode, his mouth disappears for a brief moment.
- In Thanks for the Memories, Ikki revealed to Ginkai and Erika what he did on this episode.
In the episode[]
Background[]
English dub changes[]

Erika and Chidori talking about Ginkai.

Metabee cheerfully watching TV.

The text on the blackboard.
- A brief scene only showing a bottle (which reappears later) was cut.
- The scene with Ikki, Metabee, and Erika talking about Ginkai was reduced, and the dialogue changed a bit. In the original, the three notice that Ginkai has been alone since he stopped being a Rogue Medafighter, possibly because others are still scared of him. Erika mentions that it appears to be the same way at Doburoku Elementary (ドブロク小), where Ginkai goes. Metabee then suggests Ikki to Robattle Ginkai (so he would not be alone). In the dub, Ikki wonders if Ginkai really changed and if he will be able to Robattle by the rules, and Metabee suggests to Robattle him to find out.
- The parts with Erika and Chidori greeting each other when Chidori appears, and the two talking about Ginkai (Chidori noticing they have a new friend) while Ikki is approaching them, were cut.
- Some scenes while Metabee is watching TV were cut, going from the house at night to Jouzou starting to talk with Ikki. The sounds coming from the TV also changed, having Rintaro and Kantaroth in a heated Robattle in the original, and appears to be a sitcom or a similar program in the dub.
- The scene with Metabee talking with Ikki on the bedroom was reduced.
- The score Ikki got on his next test was 20 again in the original and 18 in the dub.
- An eyecatch was added after Ikki and Metabee ran away from Ginkai.
- Ikki and Metabee returning home after running from Ginkai, and Chidori welcoming them, was cut.
- The last test Ikki is seen taking is said to be math in the dub and a kanji test in the original, the same subject that Ikki had a low score in Scoop of the Century.
- After the second eyecatch (the only one in the original), the short scene between the school's clock and the blackboard, showing kids leaving the school, was cut.
- All appearances of the 放課後勉強会 ("After school study session") text on the blackboard were replaced by "detention", which does not fit the teacher's changed lines in the dub.
- In the original, Ikki and other four kids stayed after school due to their low score in their kanji test, the teacher giving another test for them to improve. In the dub, as Samantha's ballyhoo had interrupted the test, the teacher decided to give another chance for the students to redo the test if they wanted.
- The music Metabee sings while on Action Mode was changed, resembling the Medabots theme in the dub.
- Ikki arriving in Nae's shop was cut.
- Masa's appearance in Nae's shop was shortened, likely to add more time for Skelbot's stats screen.
- Ikki telling Metabee to calm down (as Masa was taunting him) and focus on the answers was cut.
- An eyecatch was added while Metabee is being attacked by Masa's Skelbots.
- Ikki's reaction to Nae discovering his plan was shortened a bit.
- Arc-Dash's Appendix was renamed as Disruptor Cannon.
