Content[]

Summary[]

Honey disappeared while delivering a Medapart that Nae had repaired. Nae, Ikki, and Metabee go looking for Honey and find Ginkai acting strange, and when they follow him, they find that Ginkai was trying to reset Honey's data to erase her memories.

Plot[]

Ginkai arrived home and checked his Medanetboard. After checking a mail from Kam, something horrified him. Meanwhile, Ms. Nae and Honey are busy repairing a large amount of Medaparts, and Honey goes out to deliver a Churlybear arm to a boy named Tetsuo. On the way, Honey climbed a tree in front of Ginkai's house to return a balloon for a kid, but she ended up seeing something that made Ginkai angry, and he captures her to erase her memory.

Ikki and Metabee went to Nae's shop to retrieve a part, and Nae wonders why Honey is taking so long to return. When Tetsuo arrived in her shop to get back his part, Nae gets worried and they all go out to search for Honey, finding Tetsuo's part near Ginkai's house, and Tetsuo leaves with it. The trio spots Ginkai doing something suspicious, so they decide to follow him. Metabee finds Ginkai inside Lucky Bowl about to delete Honey's memory, so busts inside and protects Honey. Metabee and Honey escape into the sewer, but they get lost and out of range from their Medawatch. Ikki and Nae attempt to find them, but as night arrives, Ms. Nae drops Ikki off at his house. The two resume the search on the morning.

The next day arrives, and Ginkai finds Metabee and Honey when they leave the sewer in a parking lot, revealing he had placed a tracking device on Honey. Determined to delete Honey's memory, Ginkai sends Unitrix to attack, and during the battle they accidentally start a truck while inside. Ginkai orders Unitrix to stop the truck, but he does not recognize the command as Kilobots are only good for Robattle and nothing else. Metabee managed to kick Unitrix out of the truck, but the battle caused the truck go out of control. While making a pause from their search, Nae and Ikki see Metabee and Honey in an emergency notice about the runaway truck and rush off to find them. Nae instructs the Medabots how to stop the truck, and they manage to stop it in the edge of an incomplete road.

Ginkai is thankful for being saved and apologizes for all the trouble he caused, and as punishment Ms. Nae decided to see the memory he was trying to erase. Honey saw Ginkai crying loudly because his little sister deleted the save data from a game he was close to complete, and she was apologizing and trying to calm him down, saying he can do it again. Nae apologizes, and they promise to keep it a secret. However, they had not noticed the police and reporters in the area until they started making questions, including why the kid was crying in the video. Ginkai feels he is ruined and starts crying, with his little sister seeing him on TV and noting that he is crying again.

Background[]

English dub changes[]

Medabots Spirit episode 13 Nae campaign

Nae's campaign.

  • The text in the mail from Ginkai's Medanetboard was changed. Besides having names localized, like kokuryuu@deathmedrot.com (sic) to kam@kilobot.net, the date (Fri, 22 Sep 16:00:00) was removed.
    • Of note, the mail was not sent in the same day Ginkai saw it, as the clock in Nae's shop shows that it is 3:10 PM. Also, the date matches the real life calendar at the time, being one week before the episode's original airdate in 2000.
  • The image of Nae's campaign was removed. As Nae was not having many costumers lately, for a limited time, she offered to repair parts for only 100 yen, but Kilobots are not allowed in the campaign. Nae did not except to receive so many requests, and considers that she should have made it 200 yen instead.
    • The paper Honey is holding when she first appears is implied to have the details from Nae's campaign in the original, which Honey talks about. In the dub, the paper is a list of tasks, with Honey and Nae saying that the Blackram leg parts for Smith, Hamshin pawn unit for Sakamoto, and Stingaray turbo unit for Mantelli were done, and a ninja arm joint for Takashi was being worked on.
  • Honey gained a presentation in the dub. Her model type was left unknown in the original.
  • An eyecatch was added before Metabee goes out of the air duct, and a scene was repeated.
  • The beginning of the scene where Ginkai calls Unitrix was cut, removing the part Ginkai says that he will not let Honey escape.
  • Metabee looking back to the air duct was cut. It showed that Metabee could not escape from the same path he got in.
  • After Metabee and Honey fall in the sewers, there are several small cuts during their escape, examples including Nae activating the large screen from her Medawatch, Metabee catching Honey, Ginkai changing his expression after saying "yes", and Ginkai being relieved that his secret will remain a secret.
  • In the part Ikki and Nae are searching manholes, one scene had its position changed, and a silent scene was cut.
  • In the silent part Ikki misses Metabee while on his room, a voice only memory of Ikki and Metabee was added, where they say that they "feel the need for speed" and laugh.
    • Similary, in the silent part Metabee misses Ikki, one part was cut and one had its position changed, and a voice only memory of Metabee taking with Ikki was added.
  • An eyecatch was added after the truck's auto drive system was damaged.
  • The English dub included a reference to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with Ikki commenting that he and Nae found "four mutant turtles" when checking manholes, and also two giant alligators.
  • The silent part inside Nae's vehicle was shortened.
  • In the Japanese version, Ginkai mentions that the game he was close to complete is named Daromet 7 (an anagram of Medarot) and that the mail he received from Kam earlier had a strategy for the game. In the dub, Honey's record of Ginkai crying was shortened a bit, and it does not mention those details, the contents from Kam's message being left unknown.
