Content[]

Summary[]

The World Medabot Federation has been taken over by the Rubberobo Gang. Ikki is determined to get back the Medal that was taken away due to the new rules of this tournament in tomorrow's final match between Team Kenya, led by Victor, and Team Japan.

Plot[]

After the match between Team Kenya and Team Iceland, everyone is shocked to discover that the four Rubberobo Gang leaders are under control of the World Medabot Federation and are behind the World Robattle Cup's new rule for Medals. No one is more surprised than Miss Caviar, who still harbors feelings for Mr. Tunahead, a.k.a. Seaslug.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aki finished running tests on Sumilidon. Dr. Aki is not sure why Sumilidon can use the Medaforce, theorizing that his startling new power may have some connection to the ancient Medabots of long ago, but as there was nothing wrong with him, Sumilidon could participate in the final match without problems, and Dr. Aki thinks Sumilidon's new power may be vital to defeating the Rubberobo Gang.

Later that day, Ikki, Metabee, and Erika visit Belmont in his hospital room. In talking, Ikki decides to focus the attention on Victor and Warbandit during their Robattle. Belmont chuckles at the lack of a definitive plan, but Belmont has faith Ikki will get his Medal back.

In another part of town, Ms. Caviar is desperately trying to get in contact with Mr. Tunahead, but he acts coldly and will not see her.

In the next day, everyone in Ikki's school is going to cheer for Team Japan in the finals. At the same time, Samantha, Sloan, and Spyke plan to start practicing so they can fill-in for Space Medafighter X.

The scene changes to Victor and Warbandit meeting up with the Rubberobo Gang. Victor has a deal with them, handing over all Medals he won in the championship in exchange for cash, this time handing them the Medal from Belmont's Orkamar. Rokusho sees this taking place and confronts Victor about his actions, informing that they are from the Rubberobo Gang. Victor does not care who they are, angrily telling him to "be off!!" as a Medabot should be respectful with his superiors.

Back at the Medabot Corporation, Ms. Caviar overhears Dr. Aki and the Phantom Renegade discussing who should be Space Medafighter X in tomorrow's Robattle, with Dr. Aki planning to go himself as the Phantom Renegade would be arrested if he showed up. Miss Caviar can't believe they are working together. As a form of blackmail, she insists that she fill in for Space Medafighter X.

The weather has become gloomy, and it's begun to rain. Mrs. Tenryou accidentally splashes Victor as she is backing her car out of the store. Sorry for what she did, and unaware of whom he is, she insists he comes over while she dries his clothes. Victor tries to leave, but as it was pouring outside, Chidori offers him a hot bath, cutesy pies, and begins preparing a delicious meal, with Victor remembering of his mother.

On his way back home, Rokusho informs Ikki and Metabee about Victor's deal with the Rubberobo Gang. Ikki is disappointed, as many Medafighters look up for him, and Ikki used to be a fan of him too. Rokusho tells Ikki to focus on tomorrow's Robattle, while he will take care of the Rubberobo Gang. When Ikki arrives home, he is surprised to see Victor, and the two rivals stare at one another while sharing the dinner, sukiyaki. After some awkwardness, Mrs. Tenryou finally realizes who Victor was. She makes an excuse to leave so the two can talk.

Victor tells Ikki of the Ten Days of Darkness and how his whole family was lost and his village destroyed. Even after the tragedy the public never lost their taste for Medabots and Robattling. Now he feels that Medabots are simply tools, and he sells his Medafighter skills to the highest bidder, even if they are the Rubberobos. Victor says that Ikki would not understand him as he grew in a comfortable house with a kind mother without worrying about the same things he went through, like hunger and war. As Ikki feels down, Metabee says that they also have hardships, and while they were not as bad as Victor's they also pass through them together, as they are friends. Ikki and Metabee hang their heads as Victor leaves their home, assuring that he will win tomorrow.

The final minutes of the episode shows flashes of everyone the night and morning before the match. As the sun rises, music resembling a battle-march plays while everyone approaches the arena for the final decisive battle.

Trivia[]

  • In the English version, this is the last episode with a Robattle Stats screen, and the first episode without a Medabot Vital Stats screen.
  • In the beginning of the episode, Seaslug says that the final match will be held tomorrow, but it actually happens on the day after tomorrow.
  • The music that plays in the end of the episode is similar to Boléro.

English dub changes[]

Anime Chick Seller and Miss Caviar

The Chick Seller giving advice for Miss Caviar.

Anime Chidori seeing Victor

Chidori seeing Victor in the bathroom.

Anime Ten Days of Darkness - Warbandit firing

Warbandit during the Ten Days of Darkness.

  • The view of the Medadome's exterior from previous episodes was added in the beginning of the episode, and Seaslug is heard laughing during the scene.
  • Seaslug's first line is "surprise!" in the dub and "hello everybody!" in the original.
  • The first scenes with Miss Caviar were shortened, as the parts the narrator talks were cut. In the first part the narrator informed that Miss Caviar was appalled that "Mr. Tunahead" was the chairman of the world tournament committee, and in the second he said that the final match would be tomorrow.
  • The lines "here comes trouble" and "grrr" were added for Metabee before three of the Rubberobo Gang leaders showed up to talk with him and Ikki, indicating that he noticed them sooner, while in the original he showed no indication of noticing them before Ikki.
  • In the Medabot Corporation, the text Medarot was replaced by Medabot. Also, the view of the company's building is static in the original, while it moves in the dub, likely being replaced by the similar scene from the beginning of the previous episode.
  • The dub added some of the previous episode's scenes from the Medabot Corporation, including the flashback of Sumilidon using the Medaforce to defeat Wigwamo. Due to the change, Sumilidon is first seen offline, with his Tinpet only having his head part, and his Medal being outside his body, but next he is fully assembled and online, appearing to have been assembled in a very short time.
  • The part Miss Caviar tries to see Mr. Tunahead has a different tone:
    • In the original, Miss Caviar was desperate to enter the building to see Mr. Tunahead, begging to enter while in front of a guard blocking her way, but the security guard impatiently shouted "It's useless! The chairman is busy!", and pushed her for trying to enter without authorization. Miss Caviar remained unnerved for the rest of the scene.
    • In the dub, Miss Caviar politelly requested the guard to enter, sounding like she had just arrived, and the guard calmly says "I'm sorry ma'am, the chairman is busy. I'm afraid you'll have to leave." while rudely pushing Miss Caviar for no reason. Miss Caviar remained good-tempered after being pushed, with her tone only starting to change to sorrowful while Mr. Tunahead was leaving.
  • A fadeout was added after Seaslug ignores Ms. Caviar and leaves.
  • The part Miss Caviar talks with the Chick Seller was cut. Ms. Caviar is walking sad on the street at night due to Mr. Tunahead not even looking at her, and is wondering if it was too late for them to stay together. The Chick Seller sees her and says that she cannot be happy if she only keeps crying, and that she can no longer wait for her prince charming to simply appear, that love is something one must conquer with their own hands. He notes that if you don't try asking for something, you will certainly never obtain it, and as a comparison, he says that when entering a store, you must choose what you want and place an order, otherwise you get nothing. Miss Caviar is confused on what she should do, and leaves running, on the verge crying, and the Chick Seller wishes her luck.
  • After Victor enters Chidori's house and he says he should go, in the original there is a pause with only the sound of the heavy rain outside being heard. In the dub, the sound of the rain cannot be heard, and instead Warbandit says that he would not mind staying for a few minutes due to the rain, and Chidori says he was outvoted.
    • Warbandit also gained a few lines later in the dub. He is silent in the original.
  • In the original, Chidori looked inside the bathroom to politely see on Victor's face while talking to him. As Victor was inside a furo, his intimate parts were out of view, but to make it less awkward, the scenes were editted to keep Chidori's face outside the bathroom. Also, when Chidori asked if Victor needed anything else, in the dub she asked if he wanted a bubble bath or a rubber ducky.
  • A fadeout was added after Victor's bath scene.
  • The eyecatches were replaced by two short scenes showing Chidori and Victor.
  • In the original, Chidori's excuse to leave was that she forgot eggs for the sukiyaki, with "卵?" ("eggs?") appearing next to Ikki along with the sound of a chicken, and Chidori leaves the house to buy some in the market. In the dub, Chidori's excuse is to see if Victor's clothes had already dried. However, while the sound of a chicken was removed, the kanji for egg now appears next to Ikki for no reason.
  • When Victor recollects the Ten Days of Darkness, Warbandit's arms were omitted in the part he raised his arms to shot Victor. A fadeout was added afterwards, and a repeated view of Chidori's car outside the house was added.
  • When Chidori returns to the kitchen with a paper bag, in the dub she said she went to a store to buy a fabric softener for Victor's clothes.
  • The part Spyke is aiming at a cardboard cutout of Victor with his thumb was cut.
