Summary[]

Ikki and Metabee attempt to set their Music teacher, Miss Mimosa, up with Mr. Richards, the local florist. Unfortunately, Coach Mountain also has eyes for the sweet natured Music teacher?[1]

Plot[]

On his way to school, Ikki stops to chat with the florist, Mr. Richards, and his flower type Medabot, Floro. As Ikki talks about a Robattle he saw, his beautiful music teacher, Miss Mimosa, arrives to purchase some flowers. Mr. Richards is so taken with her that he can hardly speak. Ikki notices this and thinks they would make the perfect couple. Erika reminds Ikki that Coach Mountain is also interested in Miss Mimosa.

Soon Miss Mimosa starts receiving telephone hang-ups and anonymous notes from a secret admirer. At the same time Ikki is trying desperately to get shy Mr. Richards to ask Miss Mimosa out on a date. Unfortunately, Coach Mountain always seems to be around.

When Erika and Ikki learn of this mysterious secret admirer, they are determined to find out who it is. Erika uses Salty to help, and soon they are led back to the flower shop where they find pictures of Miss Mimosa. At the same time, Ikki and Mr. Richards are secretly spying outside Miss Mimosa's home. Who should appear? ...None other than Squidguts! He saw her walk by the Rubberobo's headquarters, and now he wants to marry her. Minutes later, Coach Mountain arrives and an argument ensues. Miss Mimosa insists they stop fighting just as Erika walks up. She declares that it was Mr. Richards who is sending the notes.

Everyone is arguing when suddenly there is a scream. Floro has taken Miss Mimosa captive in the greenhouse. He refuses to give her up saying no one is good enough for her. Even Metabee can't help for fear of hurting Ikki's teacher. Knowing this, Floro taunts Metabee and forces him to climb a tree and act like a monkey. While Floro was distracted, Mr. Richards swings from a vine and knocks Floro away from Miss Mimosa. Metabee then restrains the disobedient Medabot.

Floro is remorseful and admitted he did it to bring his Medafighter and Miss Mimosa together, planning to make her believe she was talking with Mr. Richards, but then he started enjoying their blossoming friendship, and when it was time for them to meet, he could not go through with it. Mr. Richards forgives him.

Will Mr. Richards ever get the courage to ask Miss Mimosa out? I believe everything happens for the best!

Trivia[]

English dub changes[]

Anime school music room

Outside the music room

A major change to the episode is that in the dub Miss Mimosa was supposed to meet a pen pal, but when they set up an encounter, for some reason the pen pal always runs away, being assumed to be shy, and others offer to help identify the person. In the original Miss Mimosa appears to have a stalker, and others offer to investigate if there is one and protect her. Also, in the dub Miss Mimosa sent some photos to her pen pal, while in the original the stalker took photos of her.

The episode also has several small dialogue changes, with only some of them being listed below. For example, while Coach Mountain is a bit of a musclebrain, in the original he discussed about school subjects with Miss Mimosa that were not related to training, like class disruption and the school lunches, and he said he was on the staff room instead of the gym when he heard her scream.

  • Several musics from the episode were removed or changed. For example, in the school Miss Mimosa is seen playing Träumerei in the original.
  • When Ikki tells Mr. Richards about a cool Robattle he saw in the school, in the dub he says that the match was between Cyandog and Peppercat, and Metabee comments that the result was not a surprise, implying that it was Spyke's Cyandog. In the original it was a Robattle between Agadama and Foxuno, with Agadama using Megaton Punch and Foxuno countering it with Rapier, and Metabee comments on the battle's duration.
  • In the dub Mr. Richards informs that the local florist association will hold a Robattle tournament, while in the original he informs that the shopping district will be holding the tournament.
  • The reason Miss Mimosa asked for flowers in the dub is to brighten her house for a visit (the pen pal) that will appear. In the original they are for a piano concert she is going to with a friend.
  • The small hole in Mr. Richards' finger after he pricked it on a thorn was removed in the dub.
  • The scene showing the outside of the school's music room was cut.
  • In the dub Mr. Richards tried to invite Miss Mimosa to a stroll in a garden, while in the original he tried to tell her the meaning of the flower she asked, a gardenia, which represents a secret love.
  • A fadeout was added in the change from day to night.
  • In Miss Mimosa's home, the dub added several lines for her, making this part more cheerful. This part is quieter and suspenseful in the original.
  • The time Miss Mimosa takes to reach the telephone is shorter in the dub.
  • The scene where someone is seeing Miss Mimosa outside her home was cut.
  • In the dub Miss Mimosa says that she saw a cat in the music room, and it startled her, and later she comments about her pen pal. In the original she says she saw someone inside the music room that ran away when she entered, and she comments that there are strange things happening lately, with Erika suspecting that she may have a stalker.
  • The scene where the narrator explains what a stalker is was cut. The explanation used Norbert to represent the stalker and Hannah the victim. Metabee kicks Norbert away in the end of the explanation.
  • In the dub Miss Mimosa set another encounter with her pen pal, and Ikki takes Mr. Richards to replace the pen pal in case he chickens out again. Mr. Richards appreciates the thought, but feels that it is not very honest, and later on Ikki has some doubt about it being right, but changes his mind when he sees that Squidguts may be the pen pal. In the original Ikki takes Mr. Richards to watch her house so they can catch the stalker, making him look good for her.
  • When Erika asks Mr. Richards to identify the flower from a petal she found, in the dub he says it is from a pink rose, while in the original he says it is from a cyclamen.
  • A fadeout was added as a replacement for the eyecatches.
  • The fight with Squidguts is shorter in the dub.
  • In the dub Mr. Richards informs that the carnivorous plant that got Squidguts only eats small insects, so he will eventually be spit out. In the original he informs that the plant takes 12 hours to digest, so he will be fine for some time, and Ikki suggests to find Miss Mimosa first and return for him later. A fadeout was added after this scene in the dub.
  • The scene with Metabee pointing his Submachinegun to Floro was shortened.
  • In the dub Floro asks Metabee to act like a monkey. In the original he asks Metabee to act like a cicada, with Metabee noting that he is beetle, not a cicada.
  • The duration of Floro's explanation is shorter in the dub, and the dialogue is different. In the original Floro tried to contact Miss Mimosa by calling and visiting her to see if he could do something to help bloom a relationship between her and Mr. Richards, but like his master, Floro was shy and could not bring himself to contact her. The reason Floro took photos of her was to gift them for Mr. Richards.
  • The scene where Miss Mimosa screams when Coach Mountain and Squidguts appear was shortened a bit in the dub.
  • The original elaborates that the flower Floro gave to Mr. Richards in the ending is a snowdrop, which represents hope.
